Known as the “Mozart of Basketball,” Dražen Petrović was already a superstar in Europe, leading Cibona Zagreb to EuroLeague titles and later starring for Real Madrid.
Petrović joined the NBA in 1989 with the Portland Trail Blazers but truly broke out with the New Jersey Nets, averaging over 20 points per game and earning All-NBA Second Team honors in 1993. Tragically, his career was cut short when he died in a car accident at just 28 years old.
Petrović is remembered not only as one of the best shooters and scorers in basketball history but also as a trailblazer who opened the NBA’s doors wider for European players.
