Napoli came into the encounter, brimming with confidence and sitting comfortably at the top, 18 points ahead of the closest challengers Inter Milan, who incidentally are the only other team to have beaten Luciano Spalleti's men this season.
The early exchanges were lively, with both teams going at each other. After a goalless first half, Mathias Vecino broke the deadlock in the 67th minute, and the closest effort Napoli had to level scores was a Victor Osimhen header that hit the woodwork.
Lazio moved into second place temporarily, level on points with third place Inter Milan who have a game in hand.
