According to a report, Napoli has developed an interest in Liverpool center-back Ibrahima Konate. The Serie A champions are in the market for a new central defender as Kim Min-jae prepares to join Bayern Munich in the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Initially linked with Manchester United, Kim is now expected to move to Bayern, who are reportedly ready to activate his £42.9m release clause within the next 10 days. As a potential replacement, Konate has caught Napoli's attention, as reported by Corriere Dello Sport via Football Italia.

Konate, 24, has become Virgil van Dijk's regular partner in Liverpool's defense, surpassing Joel Matip in the pecking order. However, injuries limited his appearances during the 2022-23 season, with just 24 outings in all competitions. Despite his setbacks, Konate played a crucial role when fully fit, featuring in 17 top-flight matches and completing the full 90 minutes in 13 of Liverpool's final 15 Premier League games last season.

While Liverpool has focused on bolstering their midfield with signings like Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, they are reportedly open to acquiring a new defender this summer. Nevertheless, Konate, who is contracted to Anfield until 2026 and has earned the trust of Jurgen Klopp, is unlikely to be sold during this transfer window.

Liverpool secured Konate's services for €40m (£34.4m) from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021. Since his arrival, the Frenchman has made 53 appearances for the Reds, contributing three goals and one assist across all competitions. Additionally, he represented France in three matches during their journey to the 2022 World Cup final.

Will Liverpool entertain Napoli's bid for Konate? I guess not!
