After a three-game winless streak, Burnley has finally won the Championship title with a 1-0 victory against their neighbors, Blackburn Rovers. Vincent Kompany's team had secured promotion to the Premier League earlier with a 2-1 win against Middlesbrough on April 7. Manuel Benson came on as a substitute and scored the only goal of the game, sealing both the win and promotion for Burnley.

With a 13-point lead over Sheffield United, Burnley's long-term title rivals, they will join them in the top flight if Sheffield United beat West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday. Blackburn Rovers pushed for an equalizer but could not break through, leaving them outside the playoff spots on goal difference. They will play Luton Town on May 1 after all their rivals have played at least one game.
