Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Chelsea have shown interest in signing Cancelo, but Arsenal is reportedly the latest club to express interest. Mikel Arteta, who worked with Cancelo as an assistant coach at Man City, is keen to add the Portuguese defender to his team, believing that he would be an excellent addition to his system. Arsenal successfully signed two Man City players, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, last summer, spending over £75m on them.
If Cancelo joins Arsenal, he will compete with Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney for the left-back position, or he may challenge Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu for the right-back position. Cancelo has scored nine goals and recorded 22 assists in 154 appearances across all competitions since joining Man City from Juventus in 2019. Meanwhile, Manchester City is reportedly confident of signing Arsenal's 16-year-old midfielder Ethan Nwaneri this summer.
