Chelsea aren't actively trying to sign Newcastle United's Alexander Isak because of Newcastle's high price demands. Earlier reports suggested Chelsea were interested in the Swedish striker and had made an inquiry.

Newcastle's Financial Fair Play situation means they need to sell a big-name player before June 30 to comply with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules. However, Isak is crucial for Newcastle after scoring 21 Premier League goals last season, just behind Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer.

Due to Isak's importance, Newcastle has set a high price for him, asking Chelsea to break their transfer record, which was set at £115 million for Moises Caicedo last year. Despite rumors of Chelsea's interest, journalist Fabrizio Romano says there have been no talks about Isak because of Newcastle's valuation of the 24-year-old.

Romano also notes that Chelsea hasn't pursued deals for Crystal Palace's Michael Olise or Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams for similar reasons. Olise has already decided to join Bayern Munich.

With Isak still having four years left on his contract, Newcastle would only consider selling him for an extraordinary offer. Arsenal, too, have cooled their interest in Isak because of the high price, and Isak has stated he doesn't plan to leave Newcastle anytime soon.
