Szoboszlai arrived on Merseyside in the summer of 2023 after catching the eye at RB Leipzig. Signed by Jürgen Klopp, the Hungarian made an immediate impact, featuring 45 times in his debut season and scoring seven goals.
He went on to become a key figure under Arne Slot, enjoying an even stronger campaign last season with eight goals in 49 appearances as Liverpool lifted the Premier League title for a record-equalling 20th time. While the Reds have struggled to maintain those same heights in the 2025–26 season, Szoboszlai has stood out as one of their most reliable performers, setting the standard with his consistency.
According to CaughtOffside, the midfielder has now agreed in principle to extend his stay at the club. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have both been monitoring his situation, but Szoboszlai is expected to pledge his long-term future to Liverpool.
Although his current deal runs until 2028 and there was no immediate pressure to renegotiate, Liverpool are keen to reward his form and ward off interest from Europe’s elite. The 25-year-old has already made 20 Premier League starts this season, contributing two goals and one assist, further underlining his importance to the team.
