Besiktas have completed the permanent transfer of Arthur Masuaku from West Ham United, as confirmed by the Hammers. The 29-year-old left-back had struggled to secure regular playing time under David Moyes last season and thus opted to join Besiktas on a season-long loan deal last summer. Masuaku has impressed during his stint with the Super Lig outfit, contributing two goals and four assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
West Ham's temporary spell in Turkey has now been made permanent, with Besiktas understood to have activated the option to purchase the DR Congo international for a fee in the region of £2m. Masuaku, who joined West Ham from Olympiacos in 2016, made a total of 128 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions, including 105 Premier League outings.
He scored two goals during his time with West Ham, with his first coming in a 3-0 EFL Cup win over Bolton Wanderers in September 2017, and his second in a 3-2 Premier League victory over Chelsea in December 2021. On Sunday, Masuaku played the full 90 minutes for Besiktas in a goalless draw away against Trabzonspor, with the Turkish giants currently sitting in third place in the Super Lig table and occupying the final Europa Conference League qualification spot.
