The Spaniard arrived in Melbourne chasing the final piece of the Career Grand Slam puzzle, having already lifted trophies at Wimbledon, the French Open and the US Open. After dropping the opening set to Djokovic, who was hunting a record 25th major, Alcaraz rallied in style to claim a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 victory.
At 22 years and 258 days old, Alcaraz became the youngest man ever to complete the Career Grand Slam, surpassing Don Budge’s long-standing record. The win marked his seventh Grand Slam title from eight finals, equalling Bjorn Borg’s mark for the most majors won before the age of 23.
Now part of one of tennis’ most exclusive clubs, Alcaraz looks poised to dominate across all surfaces for years to come.
