Valencia Basket has officially signed American-Italian guard Darius Thompson to a three-year contract. The 30-year-old arrives from Anadolu Efes, where he was still under contract through the 2025–26 season. However, the two sides agreed to a buyout, clearing the way for Thompson to join the Spanish club.

Thompson made the move to Efes ahead of the 2023–24 season after a breakout year with Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz. In his debut EuroLeague season with Efes, he played in 39 games and averaged 9.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and a performance index rating of 11.7.

His standout performance came in December against FC Bayern Munich, where he posted 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting, including three three-pointers, along with 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and a PIR of 26.

Valencia will now look to Thompson to bring leadership and playmaking to their backcourt as they prepare for the upcoming season.
