Unfortunately, during a training session with the French national team, Camavinga had a collision with Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele. Despite initially downplaying the severity of the issue to medical staff, Camavinga had to withdraw from international duty due to what the French Football Federation described as a sprained knee.
After returning to Real Madrid for further evaluation, it has been confirmed that the former Rennes player has suffered a complete rupture of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. However, Real Madrid has not provided a specific timeline for his recovery.
"Following tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid medical services, it has been diagnosed that he has torn the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. Further developments are awaited," Real Madrid said in a medical update.
According to a report from Relevo, it's anticipated that Camavinga will be sidelined for approximately eight to 10 weeks. This means the midfielder is likely to be out for the rest of the calendar year, causing him to miss several crucial games.
Carlo Ancelotti's team still has two remaining Champions League group-stage matches against Napoli and Union Berlin in the coming weeks, even though Real Madrid has already secured a spot in the knockout stages.
Nevertheless, Camavinga is set to sit out La Liga clashes against Real Betis and Villarreal before the year concludes. Additionally, the Supercopa de Espana semi-final against Atletico Madrid on January 10 is expected to be too early for his return.
