The Manchester United forward is due to return to Old Trafford this summer following a productive loan spell at Aston Villa, where he chipped in with four goals and six assists in 17 appearances under Unai Emery. Despite making a solid impression, Villa opted not to trigger the £40 million buy clause in his deal, meaning Rashford is now gearing up for pre-season with United.
However, the relationship between Rashford and manager Ruben Amorim appears to be beyond repair. The 26-year-old has already admitted he’s looking for a fresh start away from his boyhood club, and a summer departure seems increasingly likely.
Barcelona have been frequently linked with a move, and Rashford has now added more fuel to the fire. When asked by YouTuber xBuyer if he’d like to play alongside rising star Lamine Yamal, Rashford didn’t hold back.
Rashford also admitted he likes the idea of moving to Spain, adding:“Yeah, sure. Everybody in the world wants to play with the best,” he said during a holiday in Marbella. “So hopefully, we’ll see. It’s difficult to describe what Yamal is doing he’s only 16, 17 and playing at the highest level. I don’t think we’ve seen that before. His mentality is a skill in itself.”
“It’s a nice place. Not too far from home, good weather. If I’m there training for a long time, my family can come visit for a few days. It’s a great location.”
Although he still has three years left on his contract at United, Rashford’s comments suggest he’s already thinking about life after Old Trafford, and Barcelona could well be the next chapter.
