Manchester United have reportedly made a third offer for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo as they push to secure one of their top summer transfer targets.

The Red Devils have already had two bids turned down by Brentford but are not giving up the chase for the Cameroonian international. Mbeumo has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs this summer including Newcastle, Arsenal and Tottenham but it's understood he has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.

United’s initial bid of £55 million was rejected and while their second offer, said to be over £62 million, was closer Brentford were unhappy with the payment structure and demanded more of the fee up front. The London club have since set their asking price at £70 million.

Despite some suggestions that United might walk away from the deal, top journalist David Ornstein now reports that United have submitted a third bid. This new offer is said to include £65 million as a guaranteed fee with an additional £5 million in add-ons, effectively meeting Brentford’s valuation. It remains to be seen whether the Bees will accept the structure of the latest proposal.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the new bid and added that Manchester United are confident about finalizing the transfer. Brentford are reportedly preparing for life after Mbeumo by targeting Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson as his replacement.

If the deal goes through in time, Mbeumo could join United for their pre-season tour in the United States. Although he won’t feature in their friendly against Leeds this weekend he could make his debut against West Ham in the Premier League Summer Series on July 26.

Mbeumo, 25, has been a key figure for Brentford, scoring 70 goals and providing 51 assists in 242 appearances. Last season he played 42 games, netting 9 goals and assisting 9 more, further proving why he’s one of United’s priority signings under new manager Ruben Amorim.
