Draper had already skipped the hard-court Masters events in Toronto and Cincinnati because of the same problem, and on Monday evening he admitted on social media that the injury is more serious than first thought.
“Unfortunately, the injury to my arm is something I have to rest and it means I’ll be sitting out the rest of 2025,” Draper wrote on Instagram. “It’s very difficult for me to accept as I was building some incredible momentum this year. But I’ve been through this before and I always come back stronger. Huge thanks to everyone who supports me. I can’t wait to get back out there.”
Despite the setback, Draper can look back on his best season yet. He posted a 30-9 singles record, claimed his first ATP 1000 title at Indian Wells with a stunning win over Holger Rune, and reached finals in Madrid and Doha. At the Grand Slams, he reached the last 16 in Melbourne and Paris but fell short at Wimbledon and the US Open.
For now, Draper’s focus is on recovery, with hopes of returning in 2026 stronger and ready to build on his breakthrough year.
