Aaron Mooy returned to Celtic's starting lineup, while Rangers suffered the absence of Connor Goldson due to a hip injury. Despite Furuhashi having an early goal ruled out for offside, Celtic dominated the early exchanges and took the lead in the 26th minute through Furuhashi's excellent finish. James Tavernier equalized for Rangers with a free-kick just before half-time, but Furuhashi's second goal and Jota's strike gave Celtic a 3-1 lead.
Tavernier scored again for Rangers in the 79th minute but was unable to complete his hat-trick as Celtic held on for the win. Celtic will face Kilmarnock next Sunday, while Rangers will take on St Mirren.
