Both Manchester United and Manchester City are said to be considering a move for Mitoma in the upcoming January transfer window. Additionally, English Premier League teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool have shown interest, while Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich are among other clubs keeping a close eye on him. Mitoma has become a crucial figure at Brighton since the arrival of head coach Roberto De Zerbi just over a year ago.
Mitoma played a vital role in Brighton's impressive sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season, securing their first-ever Europa League qualification. He contributed with 10 goals and eight assists in 41 games across all competitions. In the new season, he's continued to shine, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 11 appearances. His remarkable strike against Wolverhampton Wanderers earned him the Premier League Goal of the Month award for August.
Despite Mitoma's commitment to Brighton's project under De Zerbi, he is set to receive a substantial increase in his salary with the proposed new contract. He will join seven other senior players who have extended their contracts with Brighton this year, including Lewis Dunk, Jason Steele, Solly March, Adam Lallana, Evan Ferguson, Joel Veltman, and Jeremy Sarmiento.
Nevertheless, reports from Football Insider suggest that Brighton will entertain offers for Mitoma and would be willing to let him go if the right valuation is met. The club currently values the winger at around £70 million, aiming to generate a substantial profit on the player they acquired for just £2.5 million from Japanese outfit Kawasaki Frontale in August 2021.
Mitoma is the latest Brighton star linked with a potential exit, as the club has gained a reputation for astute transfer deals in recent years, unearthing hidden talents and selling them for significant profits.
