Bayern Munich are reportedly preparing a formal bid for Barcelona attacker Dani Olmo, with the Spanish champions open to listening to offers for the 27-year-old.

Olmo joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig in August 2024 and has since made 52 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists. Despite flashes of his technical quality, the Spaniard has struggled to fully settle at Camp Nou and has found himself drifting out of the starting XI in recent weeks.

This season, Olmo has managed just one goal and two assists in 13 appearances, with Fermin López emerging as Xavi’s preferred option in the number 10 role within Barcelona’s 4-2-3-1 system. That shift has left Olmo’s long-term position uncertain and opened the door for potential suitors.

Reports in Spain suggest Bayern are closely monitoring the situation and are preparing to test Barcelona’s resolve ahead of the January transfer window. The German champions are believed to be willing to offer around €75 million (£66 million), a figure that would undoubtedly tempt the financially strained Catalan club.

Olmo is well acquainted with the Bundesliga, having made 107 appearances for RB Leipzig, where he scored 17 goals and provided 24 assists. Bayern view him as a versatile, creative force capable of adding spark and depth to their attack, though a transfer of this scale may be more realistic in the summer than in January.

There is a growing sense that Olmo’s time at Barcelona could be nearing its end. His performances have lacked consistency, and with Fermin López outperforming him in recent months, the writing may be on the wall.

Bayern are also said to be exploring other attacking options, including Lyon’s Malick Fofana, as they continue to reshape their forward line under Hansi Flick. Even if a deal for Marcus Rashford is completed, the Bavarians remain keen to strengthen on the left side.

If Bayern do formalise their interest and Barcelona decide to cash in, a move for Olmo could be set in motion well before the summer window. For now, though, the Spanish playmaker finds himself at a crossroads, fighting to revive his Barcelona career while his former league comes calling once again.
