Unfortunately for Ajaccio, they were unable to pull off a shock victory in the capital. PSG dominated the game, with Kylian Mbappe scoring two goals and strikes from Achraf Hakimi, Fabian Ruiz, and an own goal by Mohamed Youssouf condemning Ajaccio to their fate.
Ruiz opened the scoring for PSG after just 22 minutes, with Hakimi doubling their lead in the 33rd minute. Mbappe then scored his first goal in the 47th minute and his second just seven minutes later with a powerful volley from the edge of the box. Marquinhos scored PSG's fifth goal in the 73rd minute.
The game ended in a brawl, with both Hakimi and Thomas Mangani being sent off. Ajaccio's relegation was confirmed with this defeat. They have scored only 22 goals this season, the lowest in the league, and can only finish as high as 17th place. They would need to win their last three games and hope that Nantes suffer three successive defeats with a goal difference swing of at least 29 to avoid relegation.
Meanwhile, PSG remains six points clear of Lens at the top of the Ligue 1 table and could potentially clinch the title next weekend if results go their way.
